The

TheStudy of Personal Computer Aided Fault Tree

Analysis and Application

Abstract

In this paper，the transformation among a fault tree’S main data(minimum cut sets，minimum path sets，non—intersect minimum cut sets and non·intersect minimum path sets)is perfected and realized by matrix operation．And a new method of quantitative analysis is put forward through non—intersect minimum path sets．On the base of above，several methods are built for the use of fault tree qualitative analysis

and quantitative analysis，and rules are made out to choose the applicable methods for

fault treeswith different structure．Therationalapplication of these methodsCan

lower the‘'NP”difficulty,and provide a new approach to simplify FTA．

According to their respective characteristics ofVC++language and VB language， the generally multifunctional software of fault tree analysis is developed by mixed language programs．This software is fully compatible with Windows operation system．

Through testing many examples of fault trees，it is confirmed that the software has

advantages offriendly interface，convenience，saving memory and rapidity．

The methods and the software built in this paper is proved scientific and effective by analyzing some examples in mechanical system and aeronautical system．Thus it shows that fault tree analysis is significant in mechanical fault analysis and aeronauticaI safety assessment．
